Brigadier
General Charles Henry Uvedale Price
Born in 1862 he joined the Army in 1881, serving
initially in the Welsh Regiment. He joined the ISC
earlier than was normal in 1883, being promoted captain
in 1892 and Lieutenant Colonel in 1905. He was severely
wounded whilst serving in Burma 1886-88 and was awarded
a DSO and promotion to Brevet Major whilst in Uganda
1897-98.
Following the debacle at Lahej in July 1915 he
was selected to be Shaw’s long-term replacement. He
arrived in Aden in September that year but was Resident
for only five months, presumably then being invalided
home. He retired from the Army in 1920 and died in 1942.
