Born 1850, he entered army in 1870. When a Captain he
transferred to the Bengal Staff Corps and in 1890, as a
Major, joined the Indian Staff Corps. Mason served in
Burma 1886-87 and he appears to have transferred back to
the Indian Army in 1896 to command his Regiment.
He was a Colonel on the staff at Nowshera in 1903 and
was a Brigadier-General in Bundelkund 1903-04, becoming
a 2nd Class District Commander when he took
over as Political Resident in Aden from Maitland in
April 1904.
He retired from the Army on leaving Aden in 1906. He
died in 1929. |
