In the
days of Empire it is of little surprise that Aden had many
official visitors. Typically the landing stage would be dressed,
as would the Crescent, with flags, bunting and palm fronds. It
was a time for the military to appear in full dress uniform,
parade and form guards of honour, and the booming guns for
salutes would be heard all over the Colony. Aden's notables would don
their best bib and tucker............celebration was the order
of the day.
