Shell's District Sales Manager for South Arabia and Yemen 1964-67, David Tomlinson, was based in Aden.  David says he's flown flew many times on every Aden Airways route and probably on every Aden Airways aircraft.

This Shell Petrol Station next to the Central Wholesale Produce Markets was termed by Shell, a 'Series E Type 4 Service Station', which was the basic style seen in Africa. However, the petrol stations built in Aden and Lahej were a little more up-market, modeled on Shell Stations in California, a design favoured by the Sultan of Lahej, whose opinion influenced Shell.

Two British Shell employees, Graham McGlashan and Ahmed Khan (an Indo-Arab) were killed in the 1966 terrorist bombing of Aden Airways DC3 VR-AAN. Graham McGlashan was buried in Aden. After the bombing Aden Airways ceased local services and the Aden - Mukalla route was operated temporarily by RAF Argosies. The RAF charged standard Aden Airways fares.

David Tomlinson's boss (name to be advised) was partners with Aden Airways hostess Chrissy Chambers.
