Mosquito
T.III VP351
Winter 1955/56 |
|

 |
The DeHavilland Mosquito
T.III was a training
aircraft with dual controls and without
armament.
This prang occurred on the
airfield after a heavy snow fall, some time
during the winter of 55/56, involving the
station's Mosquito T.III (VP351), when its
port undercarriage hit a bank of snow at the
side of the runway and collapsed.
"I
remember that we had difficulty getting it
off the runway due to the snow and it being
so cold that the hydraulic oil in the
trackjacks was virtually unpumpable and it
took a long time to raise it."
